Free talk with Magnus (23): Youngest Norwegian on Everest
19:00–20:30January 8, 2027
Join Magnus Rørbakken through the death zone to the top of Mount Everest. A free lecture about goals, resistance, and mastery.
What happens when we stop asking ourselves about everything that could go wrong – and instead start thinking: What if it actually goes well?
Magnus Rørbakken takes us on a spectacular and personal journey from fear and uncertainty to the top of the world's tallest mountain, Mount Everest.
Nature, exercise and mountains have always been a part of his life. Yet courage and major expeditions were not his natural inclination. Magnus himself has experienced fear, especially at high altitudes, and it was precisely the encounter with his own limits that marked the beginning of a journey that would eventually lead him to some of the world's highest mountains.
In 2024, he climbed Manaslu, 8,163 meters above sea level. Later, he set out on the ultimate challenge: Mount Everest – 8,849 meters.

The courage to take risks
This is not just a lecture about mountains. It is about goals, fear, mastery, adversity, and the courage to challenge the boundaries we set for ourselves.
How often do we decide that something is impossible before we have actually tried it? We use age, experience, finances, a lack of network, or the fear of failure as arguments to stay put.
Magnus challenges us to change our mindset: What could happen if we actually dare to believe that it is possible?
Through powerful images, video and personal stories, Magnus takes the audience from the initial preparations for Everest Base Camp, through the Khumbu Icefall, extreme altitudes, avalanche hazards and treacherous conditions – and onwards into the death zone and the final demanding hours towards the summit.
