Summit Trips - Want to reach the top quickly?

Ski touring

Many people use Voss Resort for ski touring/randonée. Our ski slopes are reserved for alpine skiers and snowboarders, and can be very busy, especially on weekends.

Even though downhill skiers are responsible for those below them, it can still be difficult to see uphill traffic. If you wish to use the resort for uphill travel, we ask that you follow our guidelines for safe movement within the ski area.

We recommend purchasing a summit pass and taking the lift to the top of Horgaletten. From here, a marked trail begins.

Use our rando route

In collaboration with VossaRando, we have created a marked uphill route starting from Bavallen, via Tråstølen and up to Hangurstoppen.

We strongly encourage you to use this route: park your car at the holiday park on the right, just after the exit towards Tråstølen. Cross the road and enter the Alpha Trail, keep to the far right side of the trail while ascending, cross the Family Trail with caution. From there, the route is marked with bamboo poles with reflectors all the way to the top. The route stays outside the downhill area and is approx. 5 km long.

The trail is then marked with bamboo poles with reflectors to the top. The trail goes outside the downhill section and is approximately 5 km long.

Rando safety

We want everyone to have a safe experience in the mountains. Take responsibility for your own decisions, be considerate of others and respect nature.

If the rules of the ski resort are not followed, we may have to ban ski touring inside the ski area.

Outside opening hours

Being inside the ski resort outside of opening hours is dangerous, and we strongly advise you not to remain in the area after closing.

After hours, the ski area functions like a construction site. Snowmaking is in progress, snowmobiles operate in the slopes and grooming machines are active. Some machines use winch cables between the groomer and a fixed anchor point. These cables can be extremely hard to see, and contact with them is life‑threatening.

At your own risk

If you leave the slopes, travel uphill within the ski resort, or use the resort outside opening hours, you do so at your own risk.

You must be aware of avalanche terrain and other hazards both on and off the trails. If you plan to travel in avalanche terrain, you should know avalanche rescue techniques, avalanche terrain recognition and avalanche hazard assessment

Find the avalanche forecast at www.varsom.no.

Slope safety

Our ski slopes are reserved for alpine skiers and snowboarders. There can be heavy downhill traffic, especially on weekends.

Even though downhill skiers have responsibility, it can be difficult for them to see uphill traffic. This can create dangerous situations. If you plan to use the ski area for a summit trip, please follow all rules and instructions for safe movement.

On the Slopes – When Travelling Uphill

Always walk on the outer edge of the trail. Keep your group no wider than necessary.

Be especially careful at hilltops and in turns, where visibility is limited. Avoid creating situations where you may collide with downhill skiers.
