Take Responsibility – Learn the Alpine Safety Rules
These rules apply to both skiers and snowboarders.
- Responsibility to avoid harm
You must behave in a way that does not endanger yourself or others. - Adjust your speed according to the conditions.
Adapt your speed to the conditions, terrain, traffic and your own skill level. - Duty to yield
If you are approaching from behind (from above), you are responsible for avoiding a collision. - Passing/Overtaking
Riding straight downhill is not permitted, unless during organised training. Make sure there is enough space when overtaking another skier or snowboarder. - Entering, Starting or Travelling Uphill on a Slope
When entering a slope, starting again, or turning uphill, you must ensure that it is safe for you and others. The same applies when stopping. - Stopping on the Slope
Do not stop or sit in narrow areas or places where visibility is poor. - Walking on the Slope
If you are on foot, always walk along the outer edge of the slope. - Ski Stoppers/Leashes
Ski brakes or straps are mandatory. Ensure bindings are correctly adjusted. - Respect signs and markings
Always follow signs, markings and instructions. - Accident assistance
In the event of an accident, everyone is required to assist. Witnesses and persons involved must provide their contact details. - Use of the titmouse
It is not permitted to ride with children in baby carriers either on the ski lift or on the slopes. - Children on lifts
Children must be at least 10 years old and taller than 140 cm to ride the chairlift alone. It is not permitted to carry a child in a baby carrier on the lift or the slopes.
Violation of the safety rules may result in removal from the ski area. We encourage all guests to follow the mountain safety rules as well.

Sledding in the ski resort
Sledding on the ski slopes is not permitted. For organised tobogganing activities, please contact Vossamoro. The exception for sledding is for small children may use sledges at the outer edge of the trail in Trollbakken and Grebbesbakken.
Snowscoots, ski trikes and ski bikes
The use of such devices is not permitted in the ski resort.
Staying in the ski area after closing
Do not remain in the ski resort after closing time. Being in the resort outside opening hours is dangerous and done at your own risk. After hours, the area functions as a construction site. Grooming machines are operating, snowmobiles are active, snowmaking may be in progress and groomers may use winch cables, which are very difficult to see and extremely dangerous.
Off‑piste skiing within the resort
Voss Resort offers great off‑piste opportunities in forest terrain, open snowfields and high‑mountain areas. However, all off‑piste skiing is at your own risk.
We strongly recommend carrying backpack (avalanche backpack recommended), shovel, probe, transceiver (beacon) and helmet. Make sure you know how to use your own equipment.

Important factors when skiing off‑piste
- Knowledge of the terrain and mountain area and recent weather and snow conditions.
- Understanding avalanche hazards and safe line‑choices.
- Awareness of group dynamics and abilities.
- Never ski alone. Always maintain visual contact with your group.
- Know what to do in case of an avalanche: warning, search, rescue, lifesaving.
Avalanche warning in the facility
Avalanche warnings for the area are posted in the resort. See also www.varsom.no.

Winch Grooming
We use winch‑groomers with steel cables daily. The cable is extremely dangerous and may move unpredictably or snap. This is why it is forbidden to enter slopes or areas where grooming is taking place.
The cable can also break during use, making the climbing machine itself a dangerous element during grooming. This is one of the reasons why it is forbidden to be on or near slopes and areas where grooming is taking place.
Grooming is regulated under the Road Traffic Act. Operators may ask guests to leave the area if rules are not followed.
See our winch‑grooming safety video below.
Snowmaking
It is prohibited to be in the ski area during snow production. Snowmaking involves hard, icy piles of snow, wet and heavy snow conditions, high‑pressure hoses and exposed electrical cables Contact with these installations can be life‑threatening. See our opening hours for when it is safe to be in the resort.
Don’t follow tracks blindly
Speed riders and speed flyers often start from Lønahorgi and Horgaletten. Their tracks may lead into steep terrain or cliffs that are unsafe for skiers without a parachute. Never follow tracks into terrain you are not familiar with.

Safe flying at Voss Resort
Paragliding, kiting, speed riding and speed flying are increasingly popular. Voss Resort has designated take‑off and landing zones and marked areas for kiting. Please respect these rules and see the piste map for designated flight areas.
Drone flying
Flying drones in the ski resort or over the gondola is prohibited.
