More than skiing

Skiing in the western mountains – without a set formula
In Voss, skiing is not about one style. Alpine skiing, cross country skiing and ski touring all meet in the same landscape, each with its own rhythm. We offer raw nature, tough weather and terrain that demands something in return. What do you have to offer?
Alpine skiing – speed, flow and natural terrain
Alpine skiing is the core of winter here. The terrain is varied and lively, shaped by the mountain itself. You will find wide slopes, steeper sections, forest skiing and free lines when the snow allows. Slalom or snowboarding, precision or play, everything fits on the same mountainside.
The weather in the West is part of the package. Some days are gentle and forgiving. Others demand focus, patience and respect. Both are included in the package.
Cross-country skiing – calm, rhythm and altitude
Cross country trails await you at Hangurstoppen. Groomed tracks wind through varied terrain with views that make the effort feel natural. Perfect as a break from the slopes, or as the main activity for those who enjoy steady rhythm and quiet surroundings.

Ski touring – for those who want to earn the descent
The mountains around Voss Resort are not made only to look good. They are made to be used, with respect. If you want the view and the descent, you must be willing to earn it with steps on the way up. There are no shortcuts here.
Ski touring in Voss is about reading the terrain, assessing conditions and making your own decisions. In return you get silence on the way up, focus before the descent and a feeling that lasts long after you take off your skis.
Night skiing – you're not done yet
When darkness arrives and the lights come on, the mountain changes. Evening skiing in Voss is not just an extra option, it is an experience of its own. Fewer people, colder air, sharper turns.
With illuminated slopes in several difficulty levels, you can ski longer, ski after work or school, or take a quiet evening round after the children are asleep.
Need a refill? Hangurstoppen Restaurant, Storastovo and Varmestova are open in the evenings, perfect for something warm in a cup, a bite to eat and just enough energy to ignore what your legs are telling you.
Ski school – are you ready for the next turn?
At Voss, we never stand still. We become safer, more skilled and a little braver every day. The ski school helps you build the foundation you need to use the mountains with confidence. When the terrain changes and the conditions shift, good technique matters.
Children and adults learn to feel secure on skis, push their limits little by little and be ready for challenges around the next turn. With play, progression and instructors who know how to encourage, mastery becomes natural.
Slope dining – refuel between runs
When your legs burn, the air is cold and there are still a few turns left, you need fuel to keep going. Around the resort you will find several places to take a break, whether you want something quick and warm or a relaxed meal with a view.
In the heart of the rugged Western Norway landscape you’ll find:
- Hangurstoppen Restaurant – food, drinks and panoramic views, all year round
- Gamle Hangursrestauranten – authentic Greek flavors in the middle of the mountains
- Storastovo – barbecue classics in cozy surroundings
- Varmestovo – cocoa, coffee and simple food

Après-ski and social winter atmosphere
Après ski in Voss is relaxed and genuine. It is where people gather after a full day outside to unwind, share stories and see where the evening takes them.

Straight from the train to the mountains
Winter at Voss Resort is simple. Step off the train in the town center, carry your skis a few meters and hop onto the gondola that takes you directly up the mountain. The gondola is included in all ski passes.
Voss city center – a short walk from coffee cup to the top
In Voss we say: church, pole, lift and gondola.
The center is compact but far from empty. Here you will find:
- cafes, restaurants and pubs
- culture, cinema and concerts
- shops and services
- activities such as wind tunnel, swimming pool and bowling
